Windows error 5 — what causes it and how to fix it

Access denied. You lack permission, or the file is protected.

Why does this error happen?

If you have seen this message, the cause is usually one of these.

Running as administrator often changes nothing, because permission was never the real cause.

Separates a real permission problem from a lock, names the owner, and elevates only at the moment it is needed

Clears read-only, hidden and system attributes, then deletes (inside folders too)

How do you deal with it?
