When Code.exe (VS Code) is holding your file

Try this before you force the program to quit. This way you keep unsaved work.

How to release it without ending the program

VS Code has this file or folder open. Close the folder (File → Close Folder), and check whether a terminal inside it is sitting in that folder.

If that still does not work

  1. Close the program and delete
  2. Unlock and delete
  3. Move to Recycle Bin
  4. Delete after restart
